I will mourn but I will never forget
All of the lessons that you’ve taught
Though I stumble in this moment upset
You’re still here to guide in my thoughts
I will grieve but I will not despair
For I’ll always know exactly where you are
Passing from this world is tragically unfair
Yet you’ll live on within many hearts
I will weep but I will not lose control
For the legacy you leave will live on
A comfort that does it’s best to console
For in us you are never truly gone

[The preceding poem was written for my Grandpa who recently passed away. I wrote this and two others to be recited at his funeral. This particular piece was read at the crematorium.
I think it’s a very accessible piece, which will have the ability to touch anyone who has experienced loss.
Once again, regardless if you like this, thank you for reading.]
I’m sorry for your loss, Cameron. It’s a beautiful poem. ❤

Thank you so much. I’m really proud of this one. I basically wrote it on the train home the day I found out. I tried not to edit it too much because there’s a rawness to it that adds so much to the message.
On reading it I literally stumbled on the word stumble. I could have been accused of acting up for the audience if it wasn’t such a sober affair.
Thank you for the kindness it’s truly appreciated 💛🍍💛

I’m sorry for your loss, again. The strength it took to recite a poem was immense, I’m sure.

I read 3 that day. one at the church… was barely sat down five minutes and was called upon.
The second, this one here was read at thr crematorium. It’s the one I’m most proud of and took the most to read. I literally stumbled on the word stumble. Was odd.
The third which will go up later today was read at the golf club where everyone gathered after. It was a little lighter to brighten the mood ans remind everyone of his fun nature.
I even gave the toast to him at the very end of everything.
I still have no idea how I accomplished it all… neither does anyone else. Strong shoulders for the day I suppose.
Truly thank you for your kind heart!

You’re a believer in accessibility, like I am. Lovely poem Cameron. Sentiment and feeling beautifully clear and succinct. You’re right about his legacy living on and will help others reading it who have lost a loved one.

Thank you so much.
I think that’s why I like this piece so much. Though at this moment it’s about someone for me it’s about something grander something bigger that everyone will sadly feel at some point.
Thank you so much for the kind analysis, I really appreciate it!
